NordicSub – Specialists in harbor renovation and construction of maritime facilities

At NordicSub, we have many years of experience in harbor renovation, renovation, and new construction of quay facilities. We are known for our underwater work, but our competencies extend far beyond that. We offer complete solutions for inspection, maintenance, and contracting work – in Denmark, Greenland, and the rest of the Nordic region.

Harbor renovation requires specialized knowledge
A port facility is exposed to enormous stresses: waves, frost, ice, heavy loads, and daily traffic from ships. Without ongoing maintenance and inspection, even the strongest structures can be weakened. At NordicSub, we combine advanced underwater technology with practical experience, so we can identify and correct problems in time.
We offer, among other things:
🔹 ROV inspections and diving inspections
🔹 Thickness measurement of sheet piles
🔹 Diving work with a focus on repair and new construction
🔹 Installation of anodes
🔹 UHP (Ultra High Pressure) cleaning of structures
🔹 Establishment of sheet pile walls and new quay facilities
🔹 Total renovation of existing ports

Construction projects in Greenland and the Nordic region

We are proud of our participation in projects such as the renovation of Atlantkajen in Maniitsoq – Greenland, where we were part of a larger team that carried out the demolition of the old quay and the establishment of a new, modern sheet pile quay.

Such projects show how we combine specialized underwater work with broad contracting tasks – and deliver results that last for many years to come.

NordicSub – your partner in maritime constructions
Whether it concerns the renovation of an existing port or the construction of a new quay, NordicSub is the right partner. We ensure that projects are carried out safely, efficiently and with the highest quality – even under demanding conditions in the Arctic.

Thickness measurement in Nuuk: Professional work in Greenland’s capital

In Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, our NordicSub team recently completed an extensive project focusing on thickness measurement and inspection of steel structures. The work was carried out under demanding conditions, but the result ensures both long-term durability and high safety for the structures supporting the city’s infrastructure.

Measurement of load-bearing steel structures
A central part of the project was the measurement of load-bearing steel structures. With advanced measuring equipment, we were able to record precise data on the condition of the materials. This allows for the timely detection of any wear, enabling maintenance planning before problems escalate.

Measurements of sheet pile thickness

Measurements of sheet pile thickness were also conducted. Sheet piles play a crucial role in structures that must withstand both water pressure and harsh climatic conditions. By monitoring the thickness, we ensure that the sheet piles continue to meet the requirements and provide the necessary protection.

Inspection of anodes and corrosion protection
Corrosion is a natural challenge for steel in an environment like Greenland. Therefore, we conducted thorough inspections of anodes and remaining corrosion protection. This way, we can confirm that the structures are secured against degradation – and suggest measures if additional protection is needed.

Reporting and action plan
After the project was completed, a detailed report was prepared. Here, we compiled the results and presented a clear action plan for future maintenance. This provides the client with a solid overview and assurance that the structures can last for many years to come.

The project in Nuuk demonstrates the importance of regular thickness measurements, inspections, and documentation. By combining technical precision with professional reporting, we create confidence for our clients – no matter where in the world the work is performed.

Effective Cleaning of Fire Sprinkler Systems at Bispebjerg Hospital

Fire sprinkler systems are a critical part of safety in hospitals, where a reliable water supply can save lives. At Bispebjerg Hospital, NordicSub ApS has conducted professional cleaning of sprinkler systems and tank cleaning to ensure optimal operation and compliance with fire safety standards.

Why cleaning sprinkler systems is necessary
1. Prevention of deposits and biofilm
Sediments and microorganisms can accumulate at the bottom of the tank and restrict water flow, which can affect the sprinkler system’s function during an emergency. Regular fire sprinkler system cleaning prevents this.
2. Preservation of water quality
The water in sprinkler systems must be free of impurities to ensure that nozzles and pipes function correctly. Professional cleaning of sprinkler systems ensures that the system is always ready for use.
3. Compliance with regulations and standards
Tank cleaning in hospitals is often required according to building and fire safety regulations. Lack of maintenance can lead to legal and insurance consequences.
4. Protection of infrastructure
Deposits and corrosion can shorten the lifespan of tanks and lead to costly repairs if not removed regularly. UHP high-pressure cleaning and underwater cleaning of tanks by NordicSub effectively protect the infrastructure.

NordicSub’s approach at Bispebjerg Hospital
  • Underwater cleaning of tanks without draining them, minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Diver inspections to detect sediments and early signs of corrosion.
  • High-pressure (UHP) cleaning for efficient removal of deposits and biofilm.
  • All work is tailored to sprinkler system maintenance at hospitals.

Benefits for Bispebjerg Hospital
  • Reliable operation of the sprinkler system in emergencies.
  • Reduced risk of malfunctions and costly repairs.
  • Extended lifespan of tanks and pipes.
  • Ensured compliance with fire safety standards and regulations.
  • Professional tank cleaning at Bispebjerg Hospital by NordicSub provides peace of mind.

Regular fire sprinkler system cleaning and tank cleaning is an investment in the safety of both patients and staff. The project at Bispebjerg Hospital demonstrates how professional services from NordicSub ensure that the sprinkler system operates optimally when it really matters.

What should not be in a sprinkler reservoir? – The importance of regular underwater inspections

AtNordicSub, we have conducted numerous underwater inspections of sprinkler reservoirs in Denmark and Sweden. During these inspections, we have often observed conditions that can compromise the functionality and safety of the tank. It’s crucial to understand what should not occur in a sprinkler tank and why regular inspections are essential.

Unwanted conditions in sprinkler system reservoirs
A sprinkler system reservoir must always be in optimal condition to ensure effective fire extinguishing. The following conditions are unacceptable:
– Corrosion: Rust on the internal surfaces of the tank can lead to leaks and structural weaknesses.
– Deposits and sediment: Dirt build-up can block outlets andreducewater quality.
– Vegetation: Roots and plants inside the tank can damage the structure and contaminate the water.
– Biological growth: Algae and bacteria can affect water quality and cause clogging.
– Foreign objects: Objects such as debris or animals can contaminate the water and hinder equipment function.

Why are regular inspections important?

Regular underwater inspections ensure that the tank is functioning properly and meets safety standards. Benefits include:
– Early detection of issues: Identifyingpotential faults before they develop into serious damage.
– Regulatory compliance: Many countries require periodic inspections to ensure fire safety.
– Safety of personnel and property: A well-functioning tank is essential in emergency situations.
– Cost savings: Prevent major repairs through early intervention.

Consequences of lack of maintenance

Failure to perform regular inspections can lead to:
– System failure during a fire: A faulty tank can prevent effective fire extinguishing.
– Legal consequences: Failure to comply with safety standards can result in fines or liability for damages.
– Increased maintenance costs: undetected issues can escalate and require expensive repairs.

NordicSub’sapproach to inspection

We useadvancedROV (Remotely OperatedVehicle) technology to perform detailed underwater inspections without emptying the tank. This ensures minimal disturbance andaccurateassessment of tank condition.

Our inspectionprocess includes:
– Visual assessment: Identification of corrosion, deposits and structural damage.
